Chat Mods

Some of us tend to lose track of guild chat or just chat in general.
Also some tend to want more out of their chat frames, like mabey a level indicator next to the persons name in chat, or mabey they would like to have a timestamp(time the chat entry was sent at). The anwser to these problems and even more that I didnt list are chat mods.(modifications)
I personally use Chatter and WIM(wow instant messanger) and thats it(for chat mods), chatter is a very robust chat mod that adds many different features to the chat frames, WIM on the other hand makes all whispers show up in a dragable window(in game) that makes keeping track of many whispers at once MUCH easier.

Heres the link to my video overview for Chatter and WIM...

Addon hints

To find most of my addons I find through curse.com. Curse has a very handy client for updating your addons nearly automatically, it tells you when updates are avaliable for particular addons and asks you to select it and click the update button.

installing curse client- I get most of my addons from curse and like most of us I dislike updating addons manually. Curse client updates addons at the click of a button and tell you when updates for your addons are avaliable. You can find Curse client Here.

installing addons manually- If curse doesnt have the addon you want in its database you can go to the old school by installing addons manually. You do this by downloading the addon, opening the zip file and extracting it to C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons for vista or C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons for xp or Applications\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons for mac

load out of date addons- some addon developers do not update their addons with every patch and to use the addon you will need to check “load out of date addons” by clicking on the addons button on the character login page (in the bottom left hand corner) and then run the game as usual (you will not have to do this every time you load the game)

slash commands- slash commands are a non GUI(graphical user interface, ie buttons etc..) way to open configuration screens or configure addons. These are particularly helpful if you cannot find the button to open the configuration screen for an addon or want a faster command line esque way to open or configure addons.

Action Bars

*Dominos-This is what I use for my action bar addon. Dominos basically replaces the button bars you have in the stock UI for customizable bars you can scale, move, and hide/show. The basic idea behind a action bar addon is to give you button bars that a moveable and give you more slots to put your “actions” into.

Starting from scratch

So some readers may remember when I started posting to this blog late last year. Well if things go well I'll be back to posting regularly on this blog. I am looking for someone to collaborate with and to help edit my posts(I suck at grammar, punctuation etc..)

If you are interested please drop me a line at wowaddonblog@gmail.com and tell me why you would make a great helper for the blog.

Please have a moderate-strong interest in WoW addons and be great with grammar, punctuation etc...
